UK Government Acknowledge that Active Chilled Beams are the most Energy Efficient Solutions on the Market
The UK Government detail the Benefits of Active Chilled Beams and MSCB units as solutions that offer the best energy efficiency and longest life expectancy with minimal maintenance when compared to other HVAC space cooling systems.
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy has released an 18-page Information Leaflet that explains the benefits that come with Cooling, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Equipment including Active Chilled Beams.
The leaflet documents that:
"Typically building spaces will use a variable air volume (VAV) system with a terminal fan coil unit (FCU) to supply cool air. These can often be energy intensive and costly to run."
"Active chilled beams can be an attractive alternative to fan coil units, needing less energy to supply cool air to a space. Active chilled beams can therefore offer an energy cost saving of 20-25%."
The department also goes on to say that "Active chilled beams can have both lower operational costs and a longer lifetime than conventional space cooling systems".
