What are MVHR Units?

An MVHR unit fitted in the roof

Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) units transfer heat from extracted room air (via 'Eurovent Certified' aluminium static heat exchanger) to the fresh air supply.

The purpose of MVHR units is to help improve indoor air quality whilst conserving energy, this is done by recovering heat from outgoing / exhaust air and transferring the heat energy into the new fresh supply of filtered air to the indoor environment.

Frenger's Recepto™ product range is designed to provide energy savings for a wide variety of applications predominantly for Schools, Academies and Universities alongside Offices and Shops.

The units transfer heat from extracted room air to the incoming fresh air via the use of a Eurovent certified Klingenburg aluminium static heat exchanger, with an efficiency of up to 94% due to our angle mounted centrifugal fans amongst other design enhancing benefits.

Key Features

  • High thermal efficiency (up to 94%)
  • Shallow depth (as little as 344mm deep)
  • Eurovent Certified Aluminium heat exchanger
  • Optional touch screen controller
  • BMS Compatible - RS 485 connection terminals with external Modbus systems connection
  • Heating & Cooling can be provided with optional accessories
  • F7 and M6 filters, as standard, to meet air filtration industry guidelines (Building Bulletin 101)

Construction

MVHR units are high-efficiency static exchangers featuring aluminium plates with counter-current exchange.

The achievable efficiency can exceed 90% because they ensure the transfer of counter-current heat between two air flows with different inlet temperatures.

To increase the efficiency of the exchanger, the plate surfaces feature special baffle plates and to lower the noise levels our Recepto™ unit has 45kg/m³ insulation sandwiched between the double skin outer body of the MVHR unit.

The external casing is made from 24mm double skin panels, using galvanised steel sheets pre-insulated with polyurethane foam (density 45kg/m³). The foam uses a water based foaming agent (GWP-0).

Applications

MVHR units have been designed to provide energy savings for a wide variety of applications including:

  • Schools & Academies
  • Universities
  • Offices
  • Shops
  • Government Facilities
  • Military Bases

How can Frenger® help?

Frenger® has two Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery Unit Model ranges currently available, these are the Recepto™ Standard and Recepto™ Mini MVHR units.

Recepto™ Standard MVHR Unit

The symmetrical design of the Recepto units allows for the exhaust and inlet circuits to be easily reversed, to achieve this: The operating and automatic control logic can easily be reconfigured, by activating the DIP of the electronic board dedicated to the inversion of the flow function. The F7 and M6 filters are switched, as they can fit into either compartment.

The Recepto standard is suitable for many applications including educational facilities, offices or government building, with individual units being able to supply fresh air volumes between 270m³/h to 2600m³/h. The units can be either ceiling or floor mounted to suit the application.

Frenger® also offers the Recepto™ Mini MVHR unit which is suited for much smaller and more restricted space applications such as office meeting rooms and/or domestic applications with a volume range from 60m³/h to 270m³/h.

All 'Recepto™ Mini' models can be either Horizontally Mounted for ceiling applications or Vertically Mounted for wall applications, which ever best suits the particular application.

Frenger's Recepto™ Mini MVHR units are highly energy efficient and are able to transfer heat from the extracted room air to the fresh air with an efficiency of up to 88%.

The unit features easily accessible, highly efficient air filters. The external air intake circuits use F7 (fine filtration), which filters 70% of PM1 (in accordance with ISO 16890).

Accessories

• Electric Antifreeze
