Frenger® are proud to have supplied our 'exposed' X-Wing® Radiant Passive chilled beams to 36 Carrington Street, Sydney. This Buildcorp project was a refurbishment of a 1970s 10 Storey commercial building to create a quality boutique workplace with a 5 Star NABERS Energy rated Base Building.
The commercial building is a 5-Star NABERS energy rated Base Building, with Frenger's X-Wing® Radiant Passive Chilled Beams being used to provide Thermal Comfort of the highest quality, whilst still being both cost and energy-efficient for building owners.
X-Wing's radiant proportion creates no air movement, the only air movement comes from the convective proportion. As cold water passes through the chilled beam the warm room air is cooled against the beam's cooler surfaces. This cooled air (which is heavier due to its increased density) gently streams through the louvres in the radiant wings. This cool air percolates through the small ceiling perforations into the room space below when concealed behind a suspended ceiling or gently into the occupied space below the Radiant Beams when installed as an 'exposed' application (as pictured above) at a rate less than (<) 0.25 m/s. In this way air is circulated within the room, with warm air from the room being continually replaced by cooled air.
